Your First Meeting with Me - Private Lessons - Coaching Programs
Game Assessment - On-Course Lessons - Learning Technology
Junior Lessons - Intermediate Lessons - Senior Lessons
Private golf lessons are ideal for students looking for focused advice on their personal needs. You will have my undivided attention! If you want the fastest possible improvement, private instruction is the way to go. Another positive with private lessons is the ability to schedule your sessions around your schedule, rather than adhering to a preset timetable.
I break my private instruction into two types – Skill building lessons and ongoing Coaching Programs. Skill building lessons are perfect for golfers looking to work on one specific aspect of their game such as fixing a ball flight issue or putting. Coaching Programs are designed with the serious student in mind. They start with an assessment and planning session and include weekly private sessions as well as weekly, supervised practice sessions.
If golf is your favorite pastime and you have always wanted to give it your all to see how good you can get, you have to check out John’s Ultimate Coaching Program.
John believes choosing an instructor or coach is a very important decision. If you care enough about your game to seek out instruction, you need to make sure the person you are trusting with your game can deliver what you need. It is for this reason that John suggests all new students come and “interview” him, before deciding to sign up for a program.
Our First Meeting will include:
Because John believes this is such an important part of the process and this is your chance to interview him for the job as your coach, there isn’t a charge for this first meeting.
John understands in our busy lives, making time to meet for coffee to discuss your game may be difficult. John will gladly make time to discuss your plans over the phone if that is more convenient. If you have already made your decision to work with John, you are certainly “allowed” to schedule your one-time lesson or assessment to start a program!!
These private lessons will give you a chance to work one-on-one with John on a specific area of your game. To make significant and lasting improvements with your swing or short game, it is usually a good idea to enroll in at least a 3-hour coaching program. If, after your first lesson, you decide to enroll in a program, your first lesson will be built into your program to offer you the best possible value.
John only offers his Skill Building lessons as 45 and 90-minute sessions. The process of you getting warmed up, getting over the nerves of being watched, John diagnosing your needs, explaining the improvement plan and ensuring you understand it well enough to carry it out on your own is a time consuming process. For this reason, John recommends a 90-minute session for maximum improvement.
It is important to note, while John is an excellent instructor, he is not a magician! If you are expecting your entire game to change with one lesson, you may want to rethink your goals! John does teach many students who only come for a single lesson but these students are looking for help with a very specific situation.

If you signed your child up for swimming lessons and the coach said your son or daughter was going to come once or twice for lessons and then spend the rest of the time practicing on their own, what would you think? Crazy right? My Coaching programs are designed with the reality that improvement in any skill requires the right information and the correct use of that information on an ongoing basis. If you are a serious student who is looking to really explore your maximum potential, one or two lessons will not get you there, no matter how good your teacher is. My programs are customized for each student depending on their goals and available practice time. My years of experience and extensive training will let me provide you with complete game attention including:
First Step of a Coaching Program – Where Are You Now?
To design a plan for your improvement, it is critical to have an understanding of where your game is now. To this end, John starts all of his coaching programs with an assessment. John offers a Basic Assessment and a Total Game Assessment.
Basic Assessment
Total Game Assessment
The Total Game Assessment is the ultimate starting point for anyone who is serious about improvement. To begin your coaching program with John, he will take you through a skills assessment at the academy as well as observing you play a few holes to see how you perform on the course.
John has never seen anything like the Total Game Assessment offered to the public. A program like this is usually only available for tour players. When your assessment is over, you will know exactly what your strengths and weaknesses are and will have an action plan to begin the improvement process.
The Total Game Assessment is comprised of:
The assessment takes 3 hours and can be broken up into 2 sessions if needed. After completing the testing, John will take 2 – 3 days to create your improvement plan. You will then sit down with John to discuss his findings and ideas for your program.

Most golfers are considerably better on the range than they are on the course or their scores don’t reflect how they can hit the ball. The main reason is most golfers have never been taught the skills needed to maximize their performance on the course.
John believes there are three kinds of lessons – golf swing, short game and golf. Most golfers think a golf lesson is what happens on the lesson tee. In actual fact, most lessons received on the range are “Golf Swing” lessons. While you can simulate real life situations on the terrific practice facility at Bear Mountain, the best place to learn how to play golf is on the course.
On-course instruction will help you improve the following and much more:
Playing lesson rates are the same as the regular private and semi-private rates. John’s preference is do playing lessons early in the morning or later in the day so pace of play is not a concern.
New for 2013 is my Senior Rate program. I definitely don’t believe in the “can’t teach an old dog new tricks” philosophy!! For this reason, I am now offering special rates for golfers aged 60 and over. There is a catch. These rates are only available on Tuesday and Wednesdays before noon. I figure you’re probably retired and get up early so this shouldn’t be a problem!!
