frequently asked questions

The question we get most often is, “What makes your academy different than all the others?” There are several things that distinguish the Bear Mountain Golf Academy’s Junior program.

Our Instructors

At most academies, the junior programs are taught by Junior Instructors. At the Bear Mountain Golf Academy our Academy Instructors do teach the most of the camps and programs for the younger or less experienced junior golfers. However, every program that is geared towards tournament juniors is taught by John and Lori Randle. Their years of experience in both teaching and playing ensures that our students get world-class guidance in pursuing their goals. John is still very competitive in professional events, consistently winning and finishing high in BCPGA events.

John and Lori are passionate about the junior program and it shows through with the results they get with their students.

Our Approach

Many academies are offering junior programs that provide week-long to year-long programs. The majority of these programs provide instruction in group settings and also have many sessions scheduled each week on many different areas of the game.

Our approach is a little different. We provide instruction in groups, only when it is in the best interest of the student. We teach in groups for topics such as goal setting, fitness, nutrition, short game, scholarship pursuit, career planning, etc. All of these areas work well in groups. What doesn’t work well in groups is instruction on the golf swing. Each individual should be taught the best golf swing for them. To do this, the lessons need to be one-on-one.

We also only schedule a maximum of two group sessions per week. While additional instruction is available if students want it, we don’t like to charge a high fee for a lot of sessions that a student may not want or need.

When you put these two ideas together, you get a program which is built on lots of value to the student while also providing plenty of personalized attention. This is why we believe our programs offer the best “Bang for the Buck” in the business.

What is the focus of your swing instruction?

We focus our instruction on two things. One is the understanding of the three key concepts that govern every good swing. The second is helping each student learn their best swing to make these concepts come to life.

We educate golfers on what the golf club should be doing at impact to hit good shots. We then help them learn the swing they can best repeat to make this happen most consistently.

What determines if a golfer will ever “make it”?

We believe all golfers have great golf within them. The keys are getting good guidance from experts and working hard. Most juniors don’t do either but he ones who do both, excel and reach great heights with their golf.

Have you helped juniors get golf scholarships?

John Randle has personally helped many juniors receive golf scholarships to schools in the U.S.  As the program grows, helping junior golfers play college or professional golf and then professionally is John’s biggest goal.
