PRIVATE INSTRUCTION with JOHN
Private Lessons - Coaching Programs - Semi-Private Lessons
Total Game Assessment - Video Instruction - On-Course Lessons - Junior Lessons
Private and semi-private golf lessons are ideal for
students looking for focused advice on their personal
needs. If you want the fastest possible improvement, private instruction is the way to go. Another positive with private lessons is the ability to schedule your sessions around your schedule, rather than adhering to a preset time table.
Private Lessons
Private lessons will give you a chance to work one-on-one with John and are great for golfers of all abilities.
Students get a great deal on their first lesson with John. New students get a 60-minute Introductory Lesson for the discounted rate of $100 (20% OFF)! This"Intro Lesson" is designed to ensure your first lesson offers plenty of time for you and John to get to know each other while still providing lots of time to make instant improvements to your game.
You will notice below, John offers several package options. These packages afford you the chance to make lasting strides in one part of the game and can be used to allocate time to several parts of the game. It is important to note, while John is an excellent instructor, he is not a magician! If you are expecting your entire game to change with one lesson, you may want to rethink your goals! John does teach many students who only come for a single lesson but these students are looking for a couple of tips or need help with a very specific situation.
John encourages students who enroll in a package to schedule the first few lessons in a fairly tight time line to get the maximum improvement. Students who take four lessons over the course of 2 weeks always show much more improvement than students who choose to spread the four lessons over 4 weeks or more.

Coaching Programs
Coaching programs are designed for more serious students who are looking to really explore their maximum potential. These programs are customized for each student depending on their goals and available practice time. Offering complete game attention, John's preference is to use lesson time with 1/3 on the full swing, 1/3 on the short game and 1/3 on the golf course. Coaching Program students also receive a Learning Manual to be used in conjunction with the lessons. All Coaching Programs of 9 hours and longer begin with John's Total Game Assessment. The addition of a range pass at Vancouver Island's best practice facility completes the package to ensure maximum improvement.
John encourages students who are interested in a Coaching Program to contact John directly to discuss the details and to schedule the first session.

Total Game Assessment
John is very excited to launch this program for 2009. The Total Game Assessment is the ultimate starting point for anyone who is serious about improvement. John is a big believer in setting goals and making a plan. Both are very difficult without first knowing where your game is today.
The Total Game Assessment will tell you where you are today in the following categories:
- Your Full Swing handicap - PGA Par Program
- Your Short Game handicap - PGA Par Program
- Your Golf Fitness Handicap - TPI Assessment
- Your course management and mental game skill level - GolfPsych's Mental Game Assessment
- Your golf equipment suitability - Total Club Fitting with launch monitor for yardages
John has never seen anything like the Total Game Assessment offered to the public. A program like this is usually only available for tour players. When your assessment is over, you will know exactly what your strengths and weaknesses are and will have an action plan to begin the improvement process.
The assessment takes a total of 3 hours to complete.
Cost - $300 (or first 3 hours of a Coaching Program) and includes all assessments and results.
To schedule your Total Game Assessment, contact John directly to discuss.

Video Instruction
John uses a state-of-the-art, computer swing analyzer that utilizes V1 software. This is the same software Butch Harmon and most of the world's best instructors use with their students. His system takes video golf instruction to the next level.
Features and benefits of your video lesson
- Video allows you to see your swing for clearer understanding of John's message.
- John can add graphics to emphasize certain points.
- The system allows John to compare your swing to a model swing, side by side on the screen. This feature also allows for comparing your new and old swing to see your improvement.
- The student receives a video summary of the lesson via the Internet, complete with graphics, swing comparisons and John's audio.
- Seeing is believing

John rarely uses video in a student's first lesson and only offers video instruction during one hour lessons to ensure maximum use of the video images. Video Lessons come with a lesson summary via the internet so the student can refer back to the key elements of the session.
On-Course Instruction
Most golfers are considerable better on the range than they are on the course or their scores don't reflect how they can hit the ball. The main reason is most golfers have never been taught the skills needed to maximize their performance on the course.
John believes there are three kinds of lessons - golf swing, short game and golf. Most golfers think a golf lesson is what happens on the lesson tee. In actual fact, most lessons received on the range are "Golf Swing" lessons. While you can simulate real life situations on the terrific practice facility at Olympic View, the best place to learn how to play golf is on the course.
On-course instruction will help you improve the following and much more:
- Your ability to make course management decisions consistent with your skill level
- Your understanding of "Personal Par" and how it should shape your decision making
- Your ability to pick targets so you can get away with poor shots more often
- Your ability to read greens
- Your ability to focus on the shot at hand and not all the bad things that might happen
- Your ability to pick the correct shots around the green to make scoring easier
