Mental Game Training

Mental Game Seminars

Who needs Mental game Training? The answer is everyone but here are a few questions to make sure you will benefit from Mental Game Training with John:

  • Do you hit the ball better on the range than on the course?
  • If you shoot a great front 9 score, do you often “Blow Up” on the back?
  • Do you often “Lose your swing” in the middle of a round?
  • Do your scores generally go up in tournaments?
  • Are you more likely to miss a 4-foot putt on 18 for all the money than on the second hole?
  • Do you struggle with too many mechanical thoughts when you play golf?
  • Do you get really frustrated or angry on the golf course?

If you are like most golfers, you answered yes to one or many of the above questions. Well, you’re in luck. John is here to help and he is highly trained to help you learn the necessary skills so you can confidently answer NO to those questions?

John’s Mental Game Training

John has both formal training and a wealth of personal experience to draw from when helping students conquer the challenges of the mental game.

John’s experience as a tour pro has taught him many tough lessons in what it takes to play golf under extreme pressure.

As far as training, John’s university degree is in Psychology, which he took in preparation for attending Grad School for Sports Psychology. A professional golf career pulled him away from school so Grad School didn’t happen but this didn’t end John’s quest for knowledge on the mental game.

Most recently, in February of 2009, John attended a training seminar conducted by GolfPsych. On the strength of studies conducted on the PGA, Senior and LPGA Tours,GolfPsych has developed the only mental game training program based on scientific studies. These studies have pinpointed the EIGHT TRAITS OF CHAMPION GOLFERS. Through the use of assessment tools, John, as a certified GolfPsych instructor, can compare your personality with the scores from champions on the various tours.

First level of mental skills

You and John can now take your personality traits and your mental skills scores and work on the mental skills set needed for your best golf. These base mental skills are:

  • A Strong Mental Routine
  • The ability to control your thoughts
  • The ability to control your levels of arousal
  • The ability to put together a great game plan

Here are a couple of final notes on the mental game. If you hit the ball well enough to satisfy your needs on the range but not on the course, you do not have a swing problem, you need to improve your mental skills. Secondly, until you have a strong mental game, you will never know how good your physical skills are.
